Lodhran ( VOL ) – Shahid Abbas Joiya, Additional Secretary of Primary and Secondary Health, South Punjab, inaugurated a state-of-the-art Reverse Osmosis (RO) Filtration Plant in Basti Mian Pur Matam, in collaboration with Doaba Foundation and WaterAid Pakistan. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Javed Iqbal, who praised the initiative.
Speaking at the ceremony, Shahid Abbas Joiya lauded the efforts of Doaba Foundation and WaterAid Pakistan for ensuring access to clean drinking water for the local community. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the plant’s cleanliness and urged the community to take responsibility for its upkeep to ensure a healthy lifestyle and prevent waterborne diseases.
Malik Saeed, President of the Village Wash Committee, expressed gratitude to the implementing organizations, stating that the project has made clean water accessible to the people of the area, benefiting the entire community.
Javed Iqbal, Program Manager of Doaba Foundation, called the initiative a milestone in providing safe water to rural areas of Lodhran. He stressed the need for a robust local action plan to ensure the plant’s sustainability. District In-Charge of Doaba Foundation, Arsalan Akhtar, echoed similar sentiments, underscoring the community’s role in its successful operation.
Madam Um-e-Farwa highlighted the importance of timely filter replacements and other necessary measures to ensure the plant’s efficiency over the long term.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Doaba Foundation engineers Mujtaba Afzal, Faisal Nawaz, Rizwan Awan, Ali Maharvi, and Muhammad Shoaib, along with local dignitaries, men, women, and persons with disabilities from the village.
